We have AKC Chihuahua puppies available now! We are going to keep one to watch as a show prospect. Chihuahua puppies are not for everyone. They are a toy breed, and everyone needs to read up on the breed before you buy a chihuahua puppy. There are breeders all over the net that sell cute pups, but please make sure you buy from a reputable chihuahua breeder. We were the rescue for the Alabama Chihuahua Club of Alabama, until it closed. We still rescue. We rescued on dog that was sold as a chihuahua. It was a CKC dogs with champions the pedigree. When my hubby met the lady to pick up the dog, he said ” That is NOT a chihuahua!”. The dog grew to be a large dog, and the family did come back and pick up their dog. They had to build a huge fence so he could not get out of the yard. It ended as a happy story, but for a month, we had to take care of a dog with severe allergies, no hair, and very sick. We nursed it back to health and he lives with his owners. He was NOT a chihuahua. The lady refused to give a refund, as her health guarantee is a 24 hour health guarantee! Please do your home work. Do not buy a dog from some one that does not know the breed~ This is your dog for the next 12 to 14 yrs~

Thanks Donna

When you are searching for your new pet, remember that sometimes you have to be placed on a waiting list. You may have your heart set on a black pup, but brindle Scottish Terriers are just as pretty. You will wait over a yr for your puppy, and color should NOT be a reason to say no to the puppy. You want a dog that is healthy, parents tested for VWD, and a health guarantee in place. Keep your heart and mind open to different colors. Scottish Terriers are not for everyone, and please research the breed.

Please research the breed before buying a Scottish Terrier puppy or adult. If you find the breeder you want to buy from, your name will be placed on a waiting list. Many times you will not be able to get a black puppy. Many times your breeder will have a brindle puppy born, or a wheaten scottish terrier, and no solid black puppies. You will be just as happy with a black brindle, brindle or wheaten scottish terrier puppy, as with a black scottish terrier puppy. Be prepared to wait on a puppy. Reputable breeders do not breed on demand, and will have to put you on a waiting list.

ASK questions about the breed, her dogs, and insist on seeing where the dogs/pups are kept! If a breeder won’t let you see where the dogs/pups are kept, RUN DON’T WALK!

United we stand DIVIDED we FALL! BREEDERS UNITE!

I am so SICK and TIRED of breeders running down of other breeders! PLEASE listen, keep up with the HSUS and PETA PET LAWS. They will hurt the show breeders and the rescue organizations! For years PETA has used the words back yard breeders, puppy mills and now a new word puppy farms! PLEASE BREEDERS, if your pedigrees are the best in the world, good! You have worked hard for your pedigree and your breeding program, but your talking about every breeder that does not show will bite not only the non show breeder in the bottom , but the show breeder too! Look on the internet, join Anti Peta on Yahoo Groups, Join Pet Laws, another great group. Keep up with the pet laws in your area, please! Oprah has joined the band wagon, and that will hurt us all! Show breeders, commercial breeders, cat breeders, non show dog breeders.

For years the show breeders, have called the non show breeders, back yard breeders. At the same time the non show breeders have called the larger breeders or commercial breeders, “puppy mills”. Let’s be honest, there are breeders that abuse and neglect their dogs, and need to be turned in to the authorities. Yes, I agree, and there is one right here in Alabama, that I have worked a Humane Society about the breeder. I will rescue any of the Scotties and Chihuahuas that they need rescuing in the future. I will NOT get on the bandwagon to call every breeder a puppy mill, puppy farm or any other negative phrase, as that is what PETA wants!

I have sold ten times less puppies than a show breeder that I know is one of the top in the breed, that I own. I would not call her a mill. When did we start calling our pets companions? They are pets! Your hubby, or significant other is your companion! Another PETA phrase! Get involved with your state laws reguarding pet ownership! I love Oprah, I may take her advice on a book to read, but she said she would NEVER buy from a breeder again! Do you know how many people will listen to her, and go to the pound? Think about what you put on your web page, or keep running down every breeder, and let the laws pass, and you too will only be able to own two intact dogs!

This page is dedicated to owners who have bought dogs from us.

Mary from Birmingham and Peabody, who is 8 yrs old.
hi donna,
my name is mary s. you probably don’t remember me because it’s been a long time since we met. i used to live in pensacola and my good friend gary L. bought one of your brindle male puppies back in 2001. a girlfriend of mine and i, along with my son came to your house to pick him up for gary in december of that year. about 3 months later gary was having some health issues and the puppy ended up being too much for him to handle so he gave him to me. sadly to say, gary passed away in 2004. i sure miss his crazy self. gary had named him bogan and i really didn’t care for the name so much, but thought i should keep it since that was what he had been calling him. one day not long after that, my son said we should have named him the peabody. i asked him why and he said because he pees more than anybody i’ve ever seen! needless to say the name stuck and he is now called the peabody. he seems to like his name
my parents were elderly and once i got a job transfer, i moved back to birmingham in 2006 to help take care of them. they both passed away in 2006 and i also found out that i had cancer of the larynx that same year. that was a most unfun year. i went through all the chemo and radiation and was terribly sick for most of that summer. i’m fine now and the dr’s don’t anticipate a recurrance.
the reason i’m telling you all this, is i wanted to let you know that the peabody has been an absolute jewel of a dog. i’ve had several scotties over the years and grew up with them also and i’ve still got my old man, mactavish who is going on 15. he’s doing pretty well to be his age but i know it’s just a matter of time before he crosses over the rainbow bridge. he and the pea get along famously!
when i was off work for several months and so sick, peabody never left my side. i’d lie on the sofa most of the time and he would perch himself right by my head and would not move unless i did. now he follows my every step. right now he’s under my feet while i’m typing this! i lost my brother suddenly this past january and pea knew something was wrong because i was so upset. he never left my side. anyway, i know i’m rambling… but i just wanted to thank you for breeding such a wonderful dog and how happy i am that he’s my companion. he has the best personality and is a super friendly dog. and he likes to talk! he’s so funny and makes me laugh. whoever thinks a dog’s life is rough should come to my house and see the boys. they have got it made.
hope you are well and have a happy thanksgiving! mary

Sallie and Maggie:
Good morning Donna,

Just a note to show you what My Maggie looks like now at 9 years old. Its been quite awhile since we got her from you and you encouraged us to not give up on our little TERROR. It was the best decision I ever made. My husband was gravely ill with cancer and passed away in 2007, Maggie was HIS dog..and she stayed near his bedside, on his bed, where ever he was till the end..and even then stayed near HIS stuff. If ever there was a dog as faithful as Maggie I can’t even imagine. Its a quality that should be mentioned..she was a constant source of enjoyment, happiness and never let him down. Afterwards when I was so devasted at MY loss..she stayed by my side and helped me to get through my loss, too. It will be 3 years in April but I treasure my time with her and know she felt my loss, too. I’ve never been disappointed with our choice to adopt her from you and I once again would like to thank you for such a high quallity, standard of dog..Your earning your wings, too..!!

Big hugs from,
Sally and MAGGIE

I have one brindle male Scottish Terrier that I was taking some photos of tonight for the page. Brindle scotties are beautiful. Many folks say ” I only want a black Scottish Terrier puppy”. They do not realize that many brindle Scottish Terriers are mostly black. Some are very brindle and some are black with some brindle in the their coats. I have on the waiting list of an European breeder of Scottish Terriers. My preference is black but should the dog have some brindle on him, or the breeder only has wheaten Scottish Terriers, I will take what the man thinks is best for breeding. I am looking for the quality, and really am not dead set on a color. I understand as a Scottish Terrier breeder, things are much different when buying a Scottie puppy, but I also want the public to fall in love with all colors of Scotties. When you speak with your breeder, and are placed on their waiting list( this may be 2 years for some breeders), they will let you know after the litter is born the color of the scottie puppies and the sexes. Be sure you look at the brindle scottish terrier puppies and the wheaten scotties, as they are just as wonderful as the black scottish terriers.

Colors of Scottish Terriers are wheaten, black , and brindle. Some brindle Scottish Terriers are red brindle scotties, some are silver brindle scottish terriers and some are mostly black with some salt and pepper here and there. Some are black with some red coloring. Scottish Terriers are wonderful dogs, but PLEASE research the breed. Scottie puppies and adults are not for everyone.

You can find Scottish Terrier puppies all over the internet. All Scottish Terrier puppies are cute! Actually all puppies are cute. Remember do your research, before you buy a Scottish Terrier puppy. Is a Scottish Terrier right for your family? If the Scottish Terrier breeder refuses for you to come to their home, RUN don’t walk! If a Scottie breeder demands you meet them at an exit, RUN don’t walk! Go in and look at the parents, and every dog they have on their premises. Make sure your Scottie puppy is AKC registered. If you buy a dog online, check references from the breeder. Please beware of any breeder that says you can not see where the Scottie puppies are kept, this is a red flag! If you buy online, ask the breeder every question you can think of about the pup, the parents, and their breeding practices. Ask who their groomer is and call the groomer. Ask for references of neighbors that can testify to the conditions of the kennels where the dog lives. We are strong believers in the right to breed, show and own dogs. Many breeders have more than one breed. Look to see if that breeder has ten breeds, and puts CKC papers on all of them. AKC breeders are inspected by the Amercian Kennel Club and must do DNA testing on the parents , to prove parentage. Many breeders stay away from the AKC saying it is too costly to register a litter from the AKC. This is not true. Your litter registration is 25.00 plus 2.00 extra for each puppy. It is not expensive to register a litter of Scottish Terrier puppies! Many breeders have been breeding Scottie puppies for years, and folks can testify for them. Others are dog hoarders that care nothing about the Scottish Terrier breed, and do not genetic testing, DNA testing, register their dogs, or even care for their breeding stock. A person can get a Scottish Terrier puppy from a breeder with limited AKC paper work, and the AKC will not allow the puppy to be bred. A breeder that gets a limited registration AKC dog, can then take the dog, register it with the CKC( Continental Club) and breed the pup. Many breeders are doing this, and they were not sold that puppy/dog with breeding rights. Not all Scottish Terriers are of breeding quality. CKC also stands for the Canadian Kennel Club which a very well known and wonderful kennel club. Do not get the two mixed up. Ask the breeder if the dog is only CKC registered, for papers on the parents, if they tell you the parents are AKC registered, or one parent is AKC registered. IF you notice the parent/parents have limited on their paperwork, you should NOT buy from that breeder! That puppy was sold with a limited/no breeding paper work. It was not the quality that the breeder who sold the puppy thought should be bred. Do your homework when it comes to buying a Scottish Terrier online. Reputable breeders will answer any questions you have to ask! Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Donna Traylor of Traylorscots.com
